The Old Ford Church Library

In July of 2004 Kathy Williams started to catalog the existing books that had been donated to the Old Ford Church of Christ Library. There were many more donations throughout the year. During 2004 there were 1,130 books processed in the library. In November of that year a small Open House was held in the old location, which was a small storage room. With all of the new donations, this room was not adequate for the collection. During the winter of 2004-05 volunteers from the Old Ford Ruritans Club and the Old Ford Church building committee built library shelves in the "Golden Agers" Sunday School classroom, which is the first classroom on the right down the east wing. A large card catalog was located and purchased from a private school which had closed in Martin County. During the spring of 2005, books were moved to the new location and on October 23, 2005 a Library Open House was held.

Today the library has a self-service check out system. There are over twenty-six hundred books and approximately 900 audio/visual items for check out. Although the library focuses on religious and inspirational books and audio/visuals, thre are many topics from which to choose. The library is accessible anytime the church is open.
